Anthurium veitchii

Anthurium veitchii

The King Anthurium — a majestic epiphytic aroid from Andean cloud forests, prized for its extraordinarily elongated, lance-shaped leaves with a densely bullate surface of deeply corrugated, parallel lateral veins. Each leaf is a sculptural statement in living texture, growing more impressive with every new flush.

  • Light: Bright indirect light; avoid direct sun which can bleach and scorch the foliage. Consistent bright diffused light produces the largest, most bullate leaves.
  • Temperature: 60–80°F (15–27°C) — Intermediate to Cool grower. Prefers stable temperatures without extremes; avoid prolonged exposure above 85°F (29°C).
  • Humidity: 70–90%; high ambient moisture is essential for optimal leaf development. A grow tent, greenhouse, or powerful humidifier is recommended.
  • Watering: Keep the substrate consistently moist but never waterlogged. Excellent drainage is vital — roots must remain oxygenated to prevent rot.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a chunky, well-draining aroid mix (coarse bark, perlite, and sphagnum) in a pot with drainage holes. Ships in pot, well-established and actively growing.
