Dendrobium Uzhupud Jewels
A floriferous hybrid of Den. Mingle's Sapphire × Den. cuthbertsonii, combining a complex hybrid with one of the most celebrated miniature species in the genus. It produces flowers that are remarkably large relative to the plant's tiny size, with broad, rounded sepals and petals and a tubular rolled labellum — blooming so prolifically that the flowers virtually cover the entire plant at once.
- Light: Bright indirect light with 30–50% shade cloth; tolerates some morning sun, which intensifies bloom production on this compact grower.
- Temperature: 50–70°F (10–21°C); a cool to intermediate grower that requires stable, mild temperatures and excellent air circulation — avoid heat, which shortens bloom duration.
- Humidity: 70–90%; very high humidity is essential, inherited from the Den. cuthbertsonii parent, which thrives in cloud forest conditions.
- Watering: Keep the medium evenly moist; never allow to dry out completely, as the fine root system has limited water storage capacity.
Additional Notes
Offered as a well-established plant of approximately 5 cm, shipped bare root. Best grown mounted or in a very small pot with a fine, moisture-retentive mix and strong air movement. An Ecuagenera original selection prized for its exceptional flower-to-plant ratio.
