Lepanthes doucettei

Lepanthes doucettei

A highly ornamental miniature species native to Ecuador. It forms a dense mat of small orbicular leaves with a striking iridescent bicolor surface, and produces successive flowers with a sharply acuminate erect dorsal sepal, ovate lateral sepals curving downward into elongated filiform tails, a densely pubescent surface, and prominent bilobed petals at the center.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; leaf iridescence intensifies with slightly lower light levels.
  • Temperature: 55–72°F (13–22°C); an Intermediate grower that benefits from good air circulation and stable temperatures.
  • Humidity: 75–90%; maintain consistently high humidity — ideal for terrariums or humid intermediate setups.
  • Watering: Water frequently to keep the medium evenly moist; avoid prolonged dryness, as Lepanthes roots are sensitive to dehydration.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or in a small net pot with fine sphagnum moss. Its ornamental bicolor iridescent foliage and velvety tailed flowers make it equally prized for leaf and bloom. Plants are shipped bare root and well-established.
