Lepanthes maxonii

Lepanthes maxonii

A striking miniature species from the cloud forests of Central America, producing successive flowers on slender, arching inflorescences. The blooms feature broad, pendulous lateral sepals with a finely textured surface and a contrasting labellum, giving the flower a distinctive hooded, lantern-like silhouette.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can scorch the thin leaves.
  • Temperature: 50–68°F (10–20°C); a cool to intermediate grower with a minimum tolerance around 45°F (7°C).
  • Humidity: 80–90%; keep humidity consistently high with good air movement to prevent rot.
  • Watering: Water frequently to keep the roots evenly moist; never allow to dry out completely between waterings.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork bark or in a small pot with fine sphagnum moss to accommodate its compact root system. Ships bare root, well-established.
