Oncidium hapalotyle

Oncidium hapalotyle

A graceful miniature species from the cloud forests of South America, producing slender, upright spikes with small, well-spaced flowers of an exceptionally spidery habit. The narrow, elongated, and strongly reflexed sepals and petals curve at their tips and bear fine, scattered spotting at their base, while the small trilobed lip displays a bilobed frontal lobe and a neat white callus.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can damage the delicate foliage.
  • Temperature: 55–72°F (13–22°C); a cool to intermediate grower that appreciates stable, fresh conditions with good air movement.
  • Humidity: 70–90%; high humidity is important for this miniature species to thrive and maintain healthy root activity.
  • Watering: Water frequently in small amounts, keeping the roots slightly moist but never waterlogged; do not allow to dry out completely.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or tree fern, or in a small, well-draining container with fine sphagnum moss. Plants are shipped bare root and well established.
