Oncidium Jardin Del Azuay

Oncidium Jardin Del Azuay

A refined Oncidium hybrid from the cross between Onc. Point Pesky and Onc. nobile, blending the vigorous spray habit of its Oncidium parentage with the elegant, well-structured blooms contributed by the noble species. Named after the garden province of Azuay in Ecuador, this hybrid carries a distinctly Andean character in both its cool-intermediate preferences and graceful floral presentation.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light under 40–50% shade cloth; adequate light is essential for strong pseudobulb development and reliable flowering.
  • Temperature: Intermediate to cool grower. Daytime 62–75°F (17–24°C), nighttime lows of 50–57°F (10–14°C); a pronounced day-night differential encourages spike initiation.
  • Humidity: Prefers 60–75% relative humidity; humidity trays or a humidifier combined with good air movement keep foliage and roots in optimal condition.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to approach dryness before the next watering; reduce slightly after pseudobulbs mature to encourage blooming.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a well-draining medium bark mix; repot every 2 years or when the substrate begins to break down, ideally just after flowering when new roots are emerging.
