Paphiopedilum Ecuagenera Passion
A hybrid of Paph. Schöne von Kaunitz × Paph. Maudiae, two classic complex Paphiopedilum hybrids with mottled-leaf lineage. It produces solitary flowers on tall, erect hairy scapes, with a striped upright dorsal sepal, broadly spreading lateral petals densely covered in dark spots with ciliate margins, and a compact, lustrous pouch-shaped lip, all rising above a low rosette of attractively mottled foliage.
- Light: Low to bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can scorch the mottled, strap-like leaves.
- Temperature: 58–78°F (14–26°C); an intermediate grower that appreciates stable temperatures and consistent air movement throughout the year.
- Humidity: 60–80%; moderate to high humidity promotes healthy growth and encourages the development of long-lasting flowers.
- Watering: Keep the substrate evenly moist at all times; Paphiopedilums lack pseudobulbs and cannot tolerate prolonged dryness between waterings.
Additional Notes
Best grown in a fine bark or peat-perlite mix in a well-draining pot sized to the root system. Plants are shipped bare root and well established; pot promptly upon arrival and water thoroughly to rehydrate the roots.
