Pleurothallopsis carnosa

Pleurothallopsis carnosa

A compact miniature with a creeping or pendant habit, producing solitary flowers with fused, tubular sepals and a distinctly fleshy, prominent lip emerging from narrow, succulent leaves. Its thick-textured blooms and diminutive stature make it a fascinating specimen for mount or small-pot culture.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun, which can scorch the succulent leaves.
  • Temperature: 55–72°F (13–22°C); an Intermediate to Cool grower with a minimum tolerance around 50°F (10°C).
  • Humidity: 70–85%; mist regularly or place on a humidity tray to maintain consistent moisture around the roots.
  • Watering: Water frequently but allow the mount or medium to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown on a cork or tree-fern mount to accommodate its creeping rhizome and preference for excellent air circulation. Plants are shipped bare root and well-established, grown at Ecuagenera's cloud forest nursery in Ecuador.
